6:45 pm - Hello, friends!
|
It's been a very long time since I last updated, and a lot has changed! Brooke, the boys and I have changed addresses-- we're now calling Kansas City our home! Well, technically the Cactus League is our home for now. But hopefully, Kansas City is in the future. Everyone is doing great. The boys are getting so big too. Nolan has started kindergarten and Tate is in daycare. They're growing up so fast.
Hope to see you guys soon.

10:54 pm - Hey guys!
|
The elbow is feeling fine, and rehab is coming along nicely. I'm with the team on the roadtrip, and I've been playing some catch, trying to get a feel for the ball again. I think I'll probably get a rehab start in Toledo before I come back in August. Right now I'm just taking things slow. My progress is where it should be, according to the doctor. Don't want to rush things too much, and reinjure myself.
Also, I hear Dmitri is in Lakeland rehabbing too. It's nice to see that he's turned his life around. He's one of my favorite teammates.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1:48 am - Happy mothers' day!
|
Brooke is here in Cleveland for our weekend series, with the boys. What a surprise. I had no idea she was going to surprise me like that. What a surprise though. They've gotten so big since the last time I saw them. Nolan is almost done with his first year of preschool, and he brought a big stack of macaroni art he made in his art class. He was very proud of them. I put them in my bag to take back to Detroit with me when we leave Cleveland later tonight.
Hope you all have a nice Mothers' Day, guys.

I felt good last night, one run on eight hits with one walk in five and a third. The bullpen came in and did a great job for me.
I think when we go to the West Coast, the Oakland-Seattle-Anaheim swing, Brooke is going to try and take some time off from work to bring the boys out to stay with me on the road. I miss them a lot.
On Sunday, Kenny is going to lead his first team prayer service before the game. He's kind of nervous, but I know he'll do fine.
Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.

naterobertson and I are starting up an MLB church meeting. Gary Knotts was supposed to be the third member, but he was put on the DL and then assigned to Triple A. If anyone's interested, drop me a line at marothlike on AIM, or Nate at naterob 37.

I'm so disgusted with my performance last night. Way to follow up a great win. Six walks. Six walks. I hadn't walked as many as one all season, and yesterday I walk six.
I was one pitch from getting out of a jam and I blew it.

First win on the road this year, and it felt really good too.
In other news, Maggs is on the DL with hernia surgery, and Farnsy had shoulder pain. *sigh* We didn't need that.

I am not sure how I feel about learning Mark Redman has a LiveJournal. . . and that he's friended me. Things were so weird and tense in Detroit; I don't think I can be normal to him.
Also, President Bush is speaking at Oakland Community College. I wish I could go, but I'm taking Brooke, Nolan and Fisher to Florida to visit my parents, and see if there's anything we can do to help out with the hurricane relief efford. I'd have gone earlier but I had baseball.
I have a feeling this is going to be a nice quiet offseason. Nate and Gary and I are planning on going camping together in November, I think. Somewhere in Colorado. Just the three of us guys, no wives, no cell phones, no portable TVs or radios. Just the three of us and the elements. Should be fun.
Bible Quote of the Day:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Sorry I forgot about the Bible quote. I kind of got sucked into the end of the season, which is certainly not a good excuse, but it is an excuse. :)

I won my last start. I felt really good. And the bullpen didn't blow it.
Also, I hate this new update page.
Well ok, hate's maybe too strong a word. I don't like it.

I hate playing in Fenway, in Boston. I HATE it. The Green Monster haunts my nightmares.
After starting the second half unbeaten, I've had 2 straight bad games. I've got to nip this in the bud.

Well, at least we won.
There was no killing before the game. Just kirk_gibson delivering a lecture, Tram kind of pacing around and interjecting 'be a team player' type clichés, and Munson sort of just humoring them.
I didn't have it last night, but at least we won. I'm unbeaten since the All-Star break. And my record is three whole games over .500 at 10-7, and really, I could have more wins had the bullpen not faltered a little. This is also my first ten win MLB season. I topped all my wins of last year and we still have. . . *thinks* six or seven more weeks of season to go. I'm excited.
And I really do believe we're still in it.
